All eligible bands that submit an entry will be considered to qualify, subject to the contest rules.  A Judging panel of no more than 5 judges will be represented by KISM and The Underground Nightclub.  These judges will select a total of 12 bands to advance into the performance phase of the contest.  Judging will be based on the following criteria:  musicianship, song writing ability, and fan base.  Judges will decide if the entry complies with the official rules and may disqualify an entry at their sole discretion.  Judges will have the final decision in selecting the 12 bands that move on, with such decision being final  By entering this contest you are verifying that you are the owner and producer of the submitted material and that no third party ownership rights exist to the FILE/audio submitted. All songs performed throughout the contest must be original songs, no cover bands.  One entry per band. more than one entry per band will disqualify all entires by that band. Entries containing inappropriate music will be disqualified. Any Audio submitted to STATION will become the property of STATION and may be used in any manner it feels appropriate in the future.

KISM WILL ANNOUNCE ON WWW.KISM.COM AND NOTIFY BY TELEPHONE 12 BANDS TO ADVANCE TO THE PERFORMANCE PHASE AT NOON ON MONDAY, APRIL 4th.  Each of the 12 BANDS SELECTED MUST SEND A REPRESENTATIVE TO A MEET AND GREET ON April 7th AT 7:00PM AT THE WILD BUFFALO NIGHTCLUB TO CONFIRM THEIR SPOT AND MAKE A RANDOM DRAW FOR THEIR PERFORMANCE DATE IN THE FIRST ROUND OF SHOWCASES.  IF A REPRESENTATIVE IS UNAVAILABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE MEET AND GREET, THEY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND A REPLACEMENT BAND WILL BE DETERMINED THROUGH THE SAME SELECTION CRITERIA AS LISTED ABOVE.  Sound and lights for this round will be provided by the venue, but bands are responsible for their own back lines.  The performance competition is divided into three rounds.

ENTRY TO EACH SHOWCASE WILL BE $3 AT THE DOOR, UNLESS USING A TICKET.  BY ATTENDING, YOU’LL HAVE A CHANCE TO VOTE FOR WHICHEVER BAND YOU FEEL SOUNDS THE BEST.   FIRST ROUND SHOWCASES WILL BE HELD AT THE UNDERGROUND NIGHTCLUB ON APRIL 14, 21, and 28. 4 BANDS WILL PERFORM A 30 MINUTE SET AT EACH EVENT.  ONCE THE LAST BAND HAS FINISHED, AUDIENCE MEMBERS WILL HAVE 15 MINUTES TO VOTE FOR THEIR FAVORITE BY PLACING THEIR EVENT TICKET IN THE BOX MARKED FOR THE BAND THEY ARE VOTING FOR.  THE TOP TWO BANDS FROM EACH SHOWCASE WILL MOVE ONTO THE SECOND ROUND.  THE SECOND ROUND SHOWCASES WILL BE HELD MAY 5^THAND 12^TH AT THE UNDERGROUND NIGHTCLUB.  THREE (3) BANDS WILL PERFORM A 30 MINUTE SET AT EACH EVENT. AFTER THE LAST BAND PERFORMS, AUDIENCE MEMBERS WILL HAVE 15 MINUTES TO VOTE BY PLACING THEIR EVENT TICKET IN THE BOX MARKED FOR THEIR FAVORITE BAND.  THE TOP 2 BANDS FROM EACH EVENT MOVE ONTO THE FINAL ROUND.  THE FINAL ROUND WILL BE HELD ON MAY 26 AT THE UNDERGROUND NIGHTCLUB.  EACH OF THE 4 FINALIST BANDS WILL PERFORM A 30 MINUTE SET.  AFTER THE LAST BAND PERFORMS, AUDIENCE MEMBERS WILL HAVE 15 MINUTES TO VOTE FOR THEIR FAVORITE BY PLACING THEIR EVENT TICKET IN THE BOX MARKED FOR THEIR FAVORITE BAND.  CONTEST WINNERS WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER OF VOTES THEY RECEIVE.  IN THE EVENT OF ANY TIE at any round of the contest, TWO JUDGES, PROVIDED BY KISM AND THE UNDERGROUND, WILL DECIDE WHO WINS THE ROUND, BASED ON MUSICIANSHIP AND SONG WRITING ABILITY. vote count will be conducted by station and is not available to appeal. tie breaker decisions will be made in the sole discretion of the judges, with such decision being final. PERFORMANCE DATES AND TIMES THROUGHOUT THE CONTEST WILL BE DETERMINED VIA RANDOM DRAWING.  ALL BAND MEMBERS PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE. bands must be able and willing to play at the times randomly selected. station reserves the right to alter the lineup, and disqualify any band for any reason at any time.

KISM contests are open to all eligible US Citizens, residing in Washington state, age 28 or older, that have not won anything on KISM in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.

Employees of KISM, Saga Broadcasting, LLC dba Cascade Radio Group, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the KISM main studio are not eligible to win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
