KAFE 104.1 “Stars of Christmas”
OFFICIAL RULES
1. Beginning Monday, December 10, 2012, KAFE 104.1/KAFE will give Kindergarten through 12th grade school choirs in Northwest Washington a chance to win one of 3 (three) prizes for the school’s music department.
2. All entries will be separated into three separate categories based on age groups. In the event of multiple ages in one choir, the age of the oldest student will determine the age group. The categories will be as follows:
Elementary Kindergarten-5th Grade
Middle School 6th Grade-8th Grade
High School 9th Grade-12th Grade
3. School choirs are responsible for submitting entries before 5pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Each entry must include one (1) holiday song recorded on CD or common audio file such as an .mp3 or .wav and include the lead representative’s name, school and contact information. The representative submitting the entry is responsible for having received previous written permission from all performers or from a parent or legal guardian if the performer is under 18 years of age.
4. One entry per choir. Realizing that schools may have multiple choirs based on grade level and size, separate multiple entries may be submitted from any individual school. Each entry must be submitted as a separate CD via mail or drop off at KAFE 104.1, 2219 Yew Street Rd., Bellingham, WA, 98229, or as a separate .mp3 or .wav file via www.kafe.com. Entry deadline is Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 5pm.
5. All valid entries for each age category will be placed on www.KAFE.com to be voted on. Small “snippets” of the songs may be played throughout the day reminding people to vote. Votes will be taken and tabulated via www.kafe.com from 9:00am on Monday, December 10, 2012 through 8:59.59pm on Thursday, December 13, 2012.
6. One vote per IP address per day. If it is discovered that an IP address is voting multiple times, the votes from that IP address will be disqualified and taken out of the tally for the school. All voting will take place through, and is subject to the rules of, the UPICKEM voting mechanism.
7. The grand prize winners will be announced the morning of Friday, December 14, 2012. The entries receiving the most votes on the KAFE website in the finals of each category will win the grand prize for their school’s music department. In the event of a tie for first place, the tied schools will compete in a special “run-off”. Votes will be taken at www.KAFE.com from 9:00am on Friday, December 15, 2012 through 8:59.59pm on Sunday, December 16, 2012. Grand prize winners in the tied category would then be announced on Monday, December 17, 2012.
8. KAFE is not responsible for inability to vote on the station’s website due to technical difficulties. Prize will not be awarded to any individual(s) but will be awarded to the legal school district or organization operating the winning entry. Prize cannot be transferred or substituted.
9. Prize breakdown amongst the age groups will be as follows:
Elementary $500 Gift Certificate from Mojo Music
Middle School $500 Gift Certificate from Mojo Music
High School $1,000 Gift Certificate from Mojo Music
10. Contest is open to all Kindergarten through 12th grade public or private schools accredited by the State of Washington in Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan, Snohomish, or Island counties. Chances of winning will be determined by the number of entries received and votes received and are not possible to calculate at this time.
11. KAFE retains sole and exclusive possession and retains all rights to use any performance entry, or any part there of, indefinitely in any promotions including but not limited to on-air or website usage. The aforementioned stipulations apply to all winning and non-winning entries. KAFE, Mojo Music, and all contest sponsors are not responsible for cost associated with submitting any entry or any costs arising out of participating in the contest or failure to adhere to official contest rules.
12. KAFE, Mojo Music, and all contest sponsors are not responsible for any injury incurred during the performance of any entry; nor are they responsible for failure of any individual or organization’s failure to submit entries in the required manner.
13. All prizes are to be claimed at KAFE Radio after 7:30am on Monday, December 17, 2012, unless other arrangements are made and agreed to by both the winner and KAFE Radio. Winners are required to present a valid article of identification. All identification submitted to verify a winner is subject to acceptance by KAFE in its sole discretion. Identification which is counterfeit, illegible, tampered with or otherwise altered will not be accepted.
14. Where applicable; KAFE, Mojo Music, affiliates, participating sponsors, their agencies and the like, or any member thereof, make no claims of merchantability or validity of Prize. See manufacturer(s)/producer for complete warranty and operating instructions as it pertains to Prize.
15. Employees of KAFE 104.1 and Cascade Radio Group, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, Mojo Music, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all radio media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the KAFE main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
16. All decisions of KAFE 104.1 concerning this contest or eligibility are final. Rules are subject to change without notice. All applicable KAFE general contest rules apply. No purchase is necessary to enter this contest.
